Buffering Issue?

I'm having a playback issue in one of my sessions and can't figure it out. I really don't think it's digital jitter as it's only the one session. My PC is custom and optimized for audio. I've tried changing buffer settings to no avail.DPC Latency checker reads everything ok.

os version? cpu? ram? Reaper version? dpclat doesnt work on win8 and above. go to resplendence.com and try latencymon

how many tracks and effects are you using? if it's a lot then maybe you need to up your soundcard buffer level for playback/mixing, and then lower it again for overdubbing while muting some tracks.

OS Win7 I have about 20 tracks with an EQ and Tape Sim but I have these issues regardless of how many tracks are muted. Besides, I have an i7 w/ 8GB ram I built this computer specifically to avoid these issues. I don't have these issues on my laptop i5 w/ 4gb ram.
