There's a "General Troubleshooting" thread near the top of the forum threads that covers a lot things to try, most likely some sort of re-install will help you out. Check out that thread and then let us know if you still have problems after getting through it.

You could try getting a copy of Applejack (), and give it a whirl in "auto" mode. It's been a miracle cure for some of my Mac issues.
