a) Watching faders move around all the time can be fun, but distracting. In a heavily automated mix a bunch of faders moving around can become very visually cluttered. b) I know that the audio is automated, I don't need a visual confirmation. c) When I automate volume, I consider the volume automation to become "part" of the track, basically like a compressor with a manual envelope. I look at the faders as the "overall" level of the track to be used for adjusting the "macro" level of volume, while envelopes are for the "micro" level of volume.
