My motor is a 2.5 20v 1996 854 its fitted with Air-con/climate control, my question is this, does it have a pollen filter? if so where the hell is it? Ive looked under the near side scuttle trim where the fan lives as i thought that would be the most likely place to fit it , but there's only a huge hole with the fan at the bottom of it ? Any help here guys would be great
If fiited, it will be as shown here: Note on the RHD car the unit is on the passenger side. At 1996 the pollen filter was an optional extra but was retrofitted by Volvo when AC evaporators were replaced under warrantee. I expect most cars will have them by now.

Cheers Chris  OK so mine does not have one, wonder why there not fitted as standard? even my old ford had a pollen filter. Right then next question, seeing as Volvo`s are ruddy cheap skates ,can i get the parts anywhere so i can retro fit myself ?
Got mine from a main stealer, not to expensive really. You buy a plastic cowl, which holds the paper filter. QUite amazing the junk it catches all of which would have gone in your lungs or pebbledash you evap/heater matrix.
Yes, I retrofitted the pollen filter to mine, think I got the bits (housing and filter) off PartsForVolvos, but probably also worth contacting forum member Rufe to ask him for a quote (he works in the parts department of a Volvo dealer and will post parts). HTH, Pete
