Never changed one, but according to Vadis, the access to the handbrake lever is initially by taking out the ashtray, and carefully removing the 'compartmen t' behind the ashtray. I understand that getting the compartment out takes some doing, with a bit of brute force, carefully applied, needed

HI, I doubt that the cable has broken either. Most likely the nipple has been pulled off, so make sure you find that when replacing the cable.. :) Des. . . ;)

Not a nice job! The worst part is threading it through the hole in the rear floor down past the fuel tank , you will probably have to lower the tank ....

Just had the same problem with my handbrake lever...all of a sudden it gave way and it sounded as though the cable had become detached. So - excuse my ignorance - is it possible to reattach the "nipple" or should i just go ahead and order the cable? (I havent taken up the console yet) By the way what exactly is the nipple? Thanks

If you still have or can get a nipple or even a so-called "solderless nipple" you may be able toget away without changing the cable, putting a new nipple on the front end of the old cable.

I remember 'temporarily' repairing a metro throttle cable when the nipple at the pedal came off by using one of those plastic electrical connectors with the 2 small screws. I think it ran that way for a week or two till the owner bought a new cable for me to fit
