Such thing as playlists for regions, not entire tracks?

I feel like I've seen another engineer use this feature, but I can't find any information on it... Is it possible to have various playlists for a specific region? It would be nice to have, for example, different versions of a guitar solo housed underneath each other and be able to flip through them. This would be different than switching to a different playlist for the entire guitar track. I'm sure this feature exists, does anyone know how to do it?

If you loop record, for example, these regions always start at the same point. With the selector tool Command-Click the region and the selection of all regions starting at that point will pop up. Hope this helps, Timothy

If you use Duplicate Playlist anytime you record a new guitar solo for a specific part, the rest of the playlist remains the same. Only your guitarsolo will be different in each playlist. Each playlist contains the same regions, except for the guitarsolo. This is how I do all my recordings.
